Main technological and research equipment:
- The software complexes Dinamika-2 ( for analyzing the problems of dynamic contact interaction between continua and structures in two-dimensional formulation) and Dinamika-3 (for analyzing three-dimensional problems of non-stationary deformation of structures including massive bodies and shells), certified by Gosstandart of the Russian Federation;
- The experimental complex for studying the behavior of structural materials under intense dynamic loading.

     The complex is designed for studying the behavior and determining the physical and mechanical properties of a wide range of materials of varying physical nature (metals and their alloys, polymers and composites, soils and concretes, ceramics, wood, etc.) under impact loading.
     The complex, makes it possible to perform dynamic tests and to determine:
- Dynamic diagrams of deformation in tension, compression and shear at the strain rates of 102 ÷ 104s-1 and the temperatures up to 400°C;
- Shock compressibility and spall strength of materials at 5 GPa;
- Dynamic crack resistance of materials;
- Resistance of armoured vests to shock effects of bullets and splinters;
- Dynamic properties of low-density and granular materials;
- All the main mechanical properties of materials: deformation diagra ms, yield point and ultimate tensile strength, limiting characteristics of plasticity s and y , energy capacity, dynamic crack resistance, shear resistance of low-density and loose media;
- To study the effect of the strain-rate history on the mechanical properties of materials under cyclic dynamic loading of the same or different signs.
    The experimental stands consist of one-stage and two-stage gas guns equipped with the devices implementing Kolsky method, and the stands for studying the problems of impact interaction of compact bodies with various media in the direct and inverse formulations.
    The gas guns have the calibers of 10; 20; 57mm and make it possible, in laboratory conditions, to achieve the impact velocities in the range of 10 to 2000 m/s.

    The experimental facilities are equipped with modern computers and electronic equipment enabling the automation of experimental information acquisition and processing (VISAR system for registering the intensive elasto-plastic shock waves and spallation failure, TDS2004 and TDS2014 digital registering systems for fast processes, and others).

    The facilities for analyzing the problems of shock interaction include two gas guns, with the caliber of 20 and 57 mm. To register the penetration and piercing processes, both the direct and inverse experiments are used. In the direct experiment, the process of shock interaction is registered using the IMACON-468 high-speed camera. The use of the high-speed shadow photography makes it possible to visualize the process of impact and enables the analysis of the integrated picture of penetration and piercing. To analyze the integrated loading, the inverse experiment in combination with the measuring rod technique is used. Using the above technique makes it possible to establish the dependence of the forces of resistance to penetration on the shape, angle, and physical and mechanical properties of the striker and the target.
